WHAT: The Italian American Museum of Los Angeles’ TASTE OF ITALY

WHEN: Saturday, October 12th ~ 5-10pm

ABOUT: Los Angeles is home to the nation’s fifth largest Italian population, and one of the country’s oldest. “Taste of Italy is a celebration of authentic Italian culture and the tremendous, yet often overlooked, legacy of Italian Americans in the region,” said Marianna Gatto, Executive Director of the IAMLA and historian. “The IAMLA and Taste of Italy provide an avenue through which people of all origins can come together to learn about the region’s diverse history and experience Italian culture through the universal language of food,” said Paul Pagnone, President of the IAMLA.

PROGRAM: Taste of Italy features 50+ fine restaurants, 100+ varietals, celebrity chefs and live entertainment. Participating food purveyors will include: Drago Centro, Fabio Viviani’s Cafe Firenze, Toscanova, Locanda Del Lago, Casa Nostra, Trattoria Neapolis, Il Fornaio, GROM, and Dominick’s. Approximately 100 world-class wines will be served by participants such as Casa Torelli, Le Vigne, Cantina Pizzolato, Terravino, Total Wine and More, Nuova Capelletta, and others. The critically acclaimed Canzionere Grecanico will be performing live, as well as chanteuses Maria Elena Infantino and Elisabetta Russo. Actor Louis Lombardi will be present to introduce his recently launched gourmet food line, Lombardi’s Gourmet.

BENEFITTING: Proceeds from the event will support the Italian American Museum’s exhibitions and the preservation of the building in which the Museum is located, which listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the oldest remaining structure from Los Angeles’ little Italy.

    Hosted by beloved television personality and culinary talent Giada De Laurentiis, the opening-night celebration will embrace all things Italian including authentic Italian food, beer, and cocktails. Joined by chefs including Scott Conant, Celestino Drago, and SPQR’s Matthew Accarrino, the kick-off is poised to be a “buona sera” to remember.

  • Asian Night Market – Friday, August 23, 2013, 7:00-10 p.m.
    “Iron Chef” Morimoto hosts a unique take on the Asian Night Market featuring cherished fine dining establishments alongside mom-and-pop neighborhood eateries. Over 30 restaurateurs including David Myers, Ricardo Zarate, and David Lefevre, handcrafted cocktails, and traditional spirits will be showcased at this celebratory event.

  • Live on the Avenue – Saturday, August 24, 2013, 7:00-10 p.m.
    Top Chef Masters’ Host Curtis Stone welcomes guests to this unbelievable strolling reception culminating in a show-stopping performance set against some of L.A.’s most iconic buildings and architectural landmarks, featuring luminary talent that includes Rick Bayless, Grant Achatz, and many more.

  • Lexus Grand Tasting – Saturday, August 24 & Sunday, August 25, 12:00–3 p.m.
    Enjoy one of the nation’s most decadent walk-around tastings featuring 30 celebrity chefs, 200 coveted wines from top-name wineries, and opportunities to interact and photograph the food world’s most lauded names—all under one roof.

    Do you enjoy attending prestigious events?
    What about giving back to the community, and helping out with charitable causes?
    Now let’s throw in hors d’oeuvres by the area’s top chefs and wine from California’s premium wineries accompanied by live entertainment and silent auction.

    Oh, and did I mention that the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills is where this fantabulous event is going to be held?

    The Barristers of the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Foundation established the Vintage Bouquet Food and Wine Event in 1988 to raise funds for various causes including, but not limited to, Wills For Heroes (a free program to provide wills to firefighters, police and first responders), free programs for victims of domestic violence, The High School Blue Car Project, which educates high school students about the law.

    From noon until 4:00pm, attendees will be sampling delectable bites from the best of the best of the Los Angeles restaurant scene: Dandy Don’s Home Made Ice Cream; Hansen’s Cakes; Il Fornaio – Restaurant, Lawry’s The Prime Rib; Lady Chocolatier; Lexington Social House; Momed; Napa Valley Grille; Palomino Restaurant; Pazzo Gelato; Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse; STK Los Angeles; Taberna Mexicana; The Palm, West Hollywood; and Wood & Vine.

    Beverages of the alcoholic and non-alcoholic variety will be in abundance as well, with Pride Mountain Vineyards; Quady Winery; Relic Wines, Spring Mountain Vineyards Stella Artois beer, Wolfgang Puck Iced Coffees, IZZE beverages; and Wicker Vineyards – to name only a smattering.

    Tickets: $125 advanced purchase, $150 at the event and a limited number of VIP tickets ($175) are also available and include entree to a private martini bar. Tickets are available online.
