Sneak Peek: Geek Girl Con 2012

Geek Girl Con 2012 is right around the corner – have you got your tickets yet? I was floored with the amount of effort and level of organization this convention pulled off in its inaugural year last October; I’m really crying over the fact that I’ll not be able to make it until 2013 (unless any kind soul out there wants to sponsor my flight!) Here, permit me to sob over everything I’ll be missing – but hopefully you will be looking forward to:

WHAT: “Geek Girl Con celebrates and honors the legacy of women contributing to science and technology; comics, arts and literature; and game play and game design by connecting geeky women worldwide and creating community to foster continued growth of women in geek culture through events.” – via press release, courtesy of Susie Rantz

WHO: YOU! “GeekGirlCon welcomes all ages, races, sexual orientations, gender identities, creeds, physical and mental abilities, and familial statuses to our staff, volunteer team, and events.”

WHEN: AUGUST 11th-12th

WHERE: Conference Center – downtown Seattle, Washington

GUESTS: Greg Rucka, Gail Simone, Corrine Yu (principle engine architect for HALO), herstonian Trina Robbins, TV writer/producer Jane Espenson (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Battlestar Galactica), local activist and superhero Purple Reign, with loads more to be named!

PROGRAMMING: Programming is still being hashed out but an entire floor will be dedicated to gaming (tabletop and console)
